Earrings are an essential part of any outfit, and finding the right pair can take some trial and error. Here are some helpful hints to help you find the perfect earring which will suit your face shape and complement your outfits.

Know Your Face Shape

There are four main face shapes when it comes to faces: oval, round, triangle and square. Each one has its own unique characteristics, so knowing what type of earring suits you will make shopping much more effortless.

Like anything in fashion and shapes, certain earring shapes go well with each unique face shape. Of course, there are earrings which will suit any face shape. We will tell you later which ones they are.

How to determine your face shape

There are several ways to do this. You can ask a friend or somebody nearby to look at your face and tell you what shape it is. Or you can stand in front of the mirror and look at your face. You could of course draw in the mirror but that gives such a mess so we don’t recommend this, unless you enjoy cleaning.

Oval Face Shapes

Angular faces (Triangle & Diamond Shape)

Cheekbones are a prominent feature in these shapes therefore soft curves that create balance without adding bulk at the widest point are most preferable. Go for instance for oval hoops, teardrops, and short-to-medium drops with a gentle, rounded silhouette. Styles with detail close to the lobe can be especially flattering. Skip extremes—very wide, chunky shapes that add more width at the jaw/cheek area, or ultra-long, narrow drops that pull the look downward. so, it sometimes is confused with a heart face shape.

Round Faces

These faces tend to be a bit fuller, especially at the cheeks. The aim here is to add length and definition. So styles with a vertical drop think in line of drops, long dangles, and slim chandeliers that draw the eye downward and create a more elongated look. Teardrops and oval hoops also work beautifully because they add shape without widening the face. If you prefer hoops, choose medium to large and more oval than perfectly round. Try to avoid very small round studs or tiny circular hoops on days you want a more sculpted effect, as they can echo the roundness rather than balance it.

Square Faces

Square faces want the opposite so round earrings, no hard angles or boxy earrings. Think like hoops. The reason for this is that square faces have a pronounced jawline and to offset this you have to soften the jawline. Go for oval and rounded hoops and most definitely teardrop. This will add gentle curves to your face.
