What is Kiva.org?
Kiva is a global non-profit platform that connects people who want to make a difference with entrepreneurs and small communities in need of funding — all through microloans. Unlike traditional charity, Kiva works on a “lend, not donate” model: your money is loaned directly to individuals or groups working hard to improve their lives — from farmers in Uganda to artisans in Peru or clean energy initiatives in Madagascar. The idea is simple yet powerful: even a small loan can spark real, lasting change. Since 2005, Kiva has helped over 4 million borrowers in 80+ countries, with the help of millions of lenders worldwide — including us at Yazzy’s!
